Spin Zone / phrases I don't want to hear anymore

some have complained about "new normal"

I'm really really tired of the misuse of "unprecedented" - completely misused and overused by the governor of taxachusetts.  (folks, COVID-19 is not an unprecedented virus)

This is the opening of an op-ed piece in the Boston Herald today.

bottomline:  we are all going to die.

A "mask" that looks like the person isn't wearing a mask.

A "mask" that is painted on... much like the "swimsuits" occasionally featured in SI Swimsuit issue.  Obviously, these won't be as enjoyable to look at, but...

Spin Zone / I love the definition of "small business" (CARES Act PPP)
« on: April 29, 2020, 05:18:52 AM »
For the purpose of the CARES Act PPP, companies that have fewer than 500 employees are considered small businesses.

Apparently the LA Lakers have fewer than 500 employees.

Did anyone involved with the LA Laker application for a PPP loan think about how it would look at all?  Or Havard University?

...less vehicle traffic.  How many of us are getting used to have far less cars on the road?

For fun driving places like Boston MA, this means drivers will have to get used to stop-and-go traffic again once we get to the new normal.

Spin Zone / Slow or stop - make up your mind

You all probably have seen signs that say "Stop the spread, wear a mask"

and also the signs that say "Slow the spread, wear a mask"

Well, which is it?

and while I'm at it, what are we going to do when (not if) more than half of us have the virus (asymptomatic or not)?

Spin Zone / and in other news...

Recently, a man entered a bank without wearing a mask and "allegedly" attempted to rob the bank.

The one time he could wear a mask without raising suspicions and he doesn't.

The police really do appreciate the stupidity of criminals.

run away run away run away run away.

LOCK THEM UP!

Some cities in Massachusetts have put in place ordinances that require wearing a mask in public, with up to a $1000 fine for violations.

Today's Boston Herald's frontpage has a picture of Somerville mayor Curtatone "wearing" a mask.... around his neck.

I have no doubt that curtatone doesn't have an f'n clue regarding mask use protocol.

Spin Zone / more from COVID-19 panicky morons

In Massachusetts, Salisbury Beach and Plum Island are refusing to turn on the water to property normally used for summer vacation homes.

The towns happily take property taxes which support services year round for the fulltime resident, but treat the summer crowd with contempt.

I think people who normally visit such communities should boycott them.  Those communities rely on tourism, let them reap what they sow.

Spin Zone / mask police

There is a website/app (BOS:311) where [Boston] city residents can report non-emergency issues like potholes and graffiti (this was in place long before the COVID-19 panic).

Now the app is being flooded with complaints about people "violating" social distancing and people not wearing a mask in public.

One complaint included "dogs running wild!".

I wonder if people will start complaining about improper mask usage (e.g., wearing the mask around the neck or the mask just covering the mouth).

For kicks and giggles, watch people that are wearing mask.  Look at how many times they touch their face.

How many people are going to expect that the battle against COVID-19 won't stop until the daily loss due to COVID-19 is zero?

How many people will realize that zero is unobtainable?  How many know the number of viral diseases that have been eradicated?

Who has the courage of their beliefs to defend the government arresting people who protest against the lockdowns?

Who?

Come on, stand up, and defend it.

I dare you.
