I gave it another push...

"I didn't realize buying socks at Walmart was a constitutional right."

You would agree that it's a privilege to buy socks, right? Perhaps not from Walmart, but that's a personal judgement.

There is a constitutional amendment which prevents abridging the privileges of citizens, but I suspect most people don't take that prohibition against abridging any more seriously than the other one.

************************

The funny thing, most people don't know that part of the 14th Amendment.

and for the people concerned about so-called "assault weapons", compare the number of homicides comitted by people using their feet or fists to the number of homicides committed by people using a rifle of any kind.

If one was interested in using facts, they would find that rifles are among the least chosen weapon for homicides, less than 2%.

Since 1982, just 56 of those evil black rifles have been used in mass shootings. That is 56 out of 20,000,000. Clearly it is not the rifles.

Looking at the Lauren Boebert thread, it occurs to me - comparing Democrat women to Republican women...no wonder Democrats want everyone to keep wearing masks.

I'm too busy with work right now, but this would be an excellent meme.

Adverse Incident Reports Show 966 Deaths Following Vaccination for COVID-19

I cannot dispute anything about the article as it's behind a paywall and I'm not giving them tracking information just to read it.

The source of their data is probably the CDC, specifically the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System (VAERS). The CDC mandates that a death for any reason is reported to VAERS, so the fact that there have been 996 deaths reported does not mean those deaths are linked to the vaccine.  Actually the number is up to 1013 now out of over 60,000,000 people given at least one shot.

I have downloaded the data and obviously there are at least a few items where the vaccine clearly caused death, mostly around anaphylactic shock.  But mainly I see things unrelated to any vaccine in the database.  There's cardiac issues, STDs, dementia (no, the president didn't die), intestinal perforations, drugs, even a gun shot.

Previous claims have said that non covid deaths have been conflated with actual covid deaths.  Do you suddenly think the opposite is happening because of the vaccine?

Based on having looked at the data, I'm confident in the safety of the vaccines because science.

At this point, I believe you are starting to pay more attention to this and have a bit more doubt in your mind.

I would not classify it as that.  I'm in the same place I've always been, waiting for the investigations to show us what they find.  You and I were never going to figure this out.

I have definite opinions about what should be done, but nobody is likely to listen to me.  No surprise, those opinions run toward preventing this kind of question from happening in the future by requiring an external audit of the election with defined standards prior to the secretary of state being able to certify it.  What Frank-Dodd did for finance, each state should do for elections.  It's essential to restore confidence in elections.

So, to make sure I understand....they want to make a law that forbids themselves from allocating money to make a memorial?

Sure, whatever.  It's unlikely to get 60 votes in the Senate and it's not like Trump needs the money anyway.  For a presidential library, I'm thinking he should use his own money to buy a block of land next to the Capitol where Democrats have to see his library every day they come to work.

My Bonanza owning buddy and his wife are begging me to get it.  They said all their Docs advise to do it.  I just don't want to be the fucking outlier.

The Bonanza or the vaccine?

The attitude calling me out for TDS is the same idiotic cancel culture behavior by the Left.

Do I like Trump?  Not really, I don't respect him.

Does that mean it causes me to be deranged?  Not at all.  I'm rational about it and it doesn't cause me to go make stupid decisions like voting for Biden.

If there is no room in your world for anyone who doesn't 100% agree with you, then prepare to become a political party of 1.  That's the only kind of party a fanatic can have.

The Republican Party needs to be purged and fixed.  That's all.

Agreed. Get rid of all those idiots who don’t think the right way

How exactly do you believe that kicking people out of the party will translate into winning?  Fewer member equals fewer votes, right?

The PRO act is stupid.  It assumes that if I work as an independent contractor, I must be getting abused.  The last time I did that was 10 years ago and I was getting paid $120/hour.  Oh, please abuse me.

Today, that rate is only about $60/hour, IF you can get contract work.  The reason for the drop is primarily because Democrats in Congress have failed to prevent unskilled workers from coming to the US.  But hardly anyone does 1099 contracting anymore because the rates have gotten so low that the contract minus paying your own benefits is worse than most salaries.

He said his cancer was terminal in October and now it's being described as "advanced".

We are going to lose him.  If he feels like a failure, I just wish he could know how much he has meant.

It should be fun when he starts discriminating against people.  He has no clue the legal landmines he is already tripping.  I predict less than a year before he hits the first lawsuit for illegal work practices.

Of course, his company will be housed in a completely green space, run by solar power and pixie dust.  All his employees will be best friends with him and their union and he'll easily be able to influence them to work extra hard for him.

I went a different route, and then was offered and turned down a position in nuclear at TVA. In hindsight I should have gone with the TVA, I'd be retired by now. Oh well, I'm not the type to look back and dwell what could have been, more the type to make my choice and then look and move forward.

I could have stayed in and been retired 10 years ago, but I'd be old and bitter.

I used to sleep 100 ft from a (small) reactor. Maybe I’ve become desensitized, but I don’t view them as dangerous.

The US has thousands and thousands of hours operating reactors and only one incident.  I’m pretty comfortable with that record.
